Want to Stop Eating Sugar? Face the Sweet Facts
We eat sugar because it is yummy. It wreaks havoc on our minds and bodies, yet all the facts hold no sway in the face of its sweet, sweet goodness. It gives you a burst of energy on a tired day, it is there to soothe your sorrows when no one else is. It brings sweet relief when everything just seems too much.
For one sweet moment, all is well. Then, when the pleasure or comfort has passed, there’s the crash, the mood swings, the extra pounds, the lethargy, the dullness. Eventually, a diagnosis may come and our basic health may be threatened. We don’t feel great, and start craving sweets again. We may head back to the sweet stuff, we may lament feeling out of control and ashamed, and perhaps renew our commitment to stop eating sugar. The cycle starts again.
